There are not many jobs that offer all of this!

Name: David Moddel

Qualifications:
Certificate III and IV in Fitness. Currently in final stages of completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Anatomy.

Why did you become a personal trainer?
I became a personal trainer because I really enjoy training and the benefits and rewards of what I get out of it. I discovered the importance of fitness when I was a soldier in the military. I was sometimes unhappy, anxious and frustrated. I decided to start training (initially by myself) and I started to feel great. I had increased energy levels, was more relaxed, and less stressed and anxious because I felt like I was more in control and had clearer rational thoughts. I began to see the benefits of fitness on the mind and overall health and wellbeing. I started to train with others in my military unit, discovering more techniques and really enjoyed pushing others to reach their goals both through fitness and personal.

What is the best thing about being a personal trainer?
The best thing about being a personal trainer is the contact you have with the clients and helping them achieve their health and fitness goals. The way a trainer and a client become really close and open up to each other through the fitness journey is a very rewarding experience. It makes it hard to call it work when I enjoy it so much!

What makes you a great personal trainer?
I am all about the client, whether in a session or outside a session, as I believe the client and I are in a partnership in order to reach their fitness goals. I am results driven and aim to excel expectations and for my clients to enjoy coming to train. I think what makes me a great trainer is that I create tailored programs for each client, as no two people are the same and I am willing to learn and keep on learning new styles and new techniques. I am willing to write an individualized program for my client and keep on rewriting it until the client is satisfied and we achieve their goals. From my time in the military this has also contributed to my training style which gets results.
