I have always been an active person, and grew up dedicated to playing sports such as football (soccer) and golf. At the age of twenty I picked up my first set of dumbells when I joined a gym and, since then, have always enjoyed training hard and lifting heavy weights, while ensuring workouts remain fun and enjoyable!

It wasn’t until I moved to Australia and saw the positive influence fitness and health has on people’s lives that I realised my previous job roles in construction and interior design were not my true passion. This led to me going back to college to attain my qualifications in personal training, and pursue a career in the fitness industry.

My moto in all aspects in life has been ‘you can go hard or go home’!

The start of my love affair with fitness began six weeks after the birth of my first daughter thirty-five years ago, when I realised that my body and its jiggly bits would need a little nudge to get it back into shape. I dragged myself reluctantly into the Spring Street gym in Bondi Junction and employed the services of a personal trainer to write me a programme. One thing led to another, and before I knew it I was hooked! There followed a whirlwind of various exercise obsessions: twice-daily aerobics or Step classes (complete with Jane Fonda style leggings, fluoro leotards and headbands), running clubs, training and competing nationally in Taekwondo, an attempt at mastering golf (mission impossible), learning Olympic lifting (nothing better than the feeling of a good Power Clean & Jerk), and weights, weights and more weights (and no, I’m still not “big”).

Eventually this led to the realisation that I found absolutely no joy or meaning in working in a “conventional” business. After parting with my instant printing business in Bondi Junction in 2000, I then embarked on becoming a personal trainer. That was the best decision I ever made. There are no words to express the immense joy and satisfaction I derive from having the privilege to help people, to witness how their lives are changed and improved by becoming fitter, healthier and more confident through exercise and good nutrition. However, after working as a personal trainer for seventeen years in Fitness First in the CBD, I started to yearn for something a little more. This led to my looking for a small community-focused personal training studio … which led me to ownership of Coastal Bodies!

I truly love every minute of every day at the Studio. Our little community is amazing; so friendly, so welcoming and such a fun, happy and fit bunch of people — it’s like having a second family!! The wonderful PTs at the Studio are a great bunch to work with, and I could not be happier to have discovered this little gem.

Outside Coastal Bodies, I have many interests and loves: skiing, bushwalking, trekking, horse-riding … travelling, movies, great food and wine, cooking, reading and learning German! And then there’s animals… dogs, rabbits, pigs, Meerkats… if it’s furry and/or cute, I want to take it home!

Since receiving my Diploma of Personal Fitness Coaching I have been keen to combine my previous involvement in Rugby Union, Soccer, Squash, Marathon Running and Triathlon with the academic and practical skills of the Diploma, in order to provide programming, training and guidance for older people seeking to maintain or re-establish their fitness and well-being.

Following a career of over 40 years of professional and voluntary activity in Social Work and Community Services, and as a Senior Citizen myself (age 68), I am now seeking to extend the health and wellbeing of older people by ensuring that they undertake challenging but safe programmes of activity and nutrition, including cardiovascular, endurance and resistance exercises in a small group or individual setting.

Having received expert supervision and training from leading Personal Fitness Coaches, Lisa Korn and Julie Stern, I am now delighted to work with the outstanding professional staff at Coastal Bodies. I am also very keen to share my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with people who, like me, want to maximise their physical and psychological well-being and their quality of life.

I’d describe myself as a tough little cookie with a heart and soul of gold from the San Francisco Bay Area.

I have over 20 years of experience dedicating myself to helping others and becoming the best version of myself possible. I have had a varied career path, from studying Business Economics, earning my licenses as an Aviation Maintenance Technician, to managing restaurants, working as a Chef and Bartender at listed Top 100 Bay Area scenes, to helping people with disability maintain their independence and quality of life.

When I landed on Sydney soil 5 years ago, I knew I was home. The sunshine, unique culinary scene and secret nooks and crannies along the coast gave me life! I had a feeling this was the beginning of a beautiful adventure.

After 5 years of self-discovery and getting to know the Aussie way of life, I began to uncover the amazing mental and physical benefits of Strength and Anaerobic training. The dynamics within my household, my energy and zest of life improved immensely. I started investigating ways I could help others achieve this feeling! So, I kicked my heels 3 times, channelled my inner Xena Warrior Princess and worked diligently to obtain my Certificate IV in Fitness (Master Trainer), and here I am to help you rock your world!

I thrive on building human connection in a soulful way, yet I can be real with you when real talk is called for. I will demand you bring your “A” game each and every session, and I’ll be your biggest cheerleader along the way. There’s no stopping us now! Let’s smash your fitness goals and have a bloody good time doing it!

Qualifications

– Certificate IV in Fitness
– Master Trainer Level 1

– Suspension Training

I’m originally from Canada, but you’d never guess from my accent. I have been in this beautiful country for seven years, with absolutely no intention of ever going back. I love the sun, basically live at the beach during the summer months and was mildly disappointed at the discovery that thongs were not acceptable footwear year-round in Sydney.

I’m currently studying a degree in counselling and believe whole-heartedly that movement and mental health go hand in hand.

My passion for health and fitness developed at a young age, growing up playing soccer and spending some time in the school gym in high school. However, this has grown into more of a lifestyle for myself over the past eight or so years. Around 22, while struggling with a decline in my mental health, I sought out the gym in the hope of making some big changes. At the time the goal behind these changes was purely based on weight loss/physical appearance. I started with a body-building coach, and was left with a poor relationship with food and a lot of different aches and pains I couldn’t find the cause of. Gradually this shifted towards a more strength-based goal a few years later, and now my main goal being that movement — when done with a love for our bodies and without ridiculous expectations of ourselves — makes us feel good. For me, it’s really that simple!

So while I believe that your physical goals are extremely important, I feel it’s much more valuable to learn how to nourish our bodies. Exercise is a thousand times more enjoyable if we to seek to know what movement can offer us individually, and I feel it’s more important to learn how to follow through on a commitment to yourself — no matter how small. I know deep in my heart that when we can focus on these things, everything else will fall into place.

I’m an energetic, dedicated and enthusiastic Health and Fitness Coach with a broad range of skills obtained through working across different professional settings. My passion for health and fitness commenced ten years ago in my home town of London when I began working as a Learning Support Assistant and Physical Education Coordinator in a school for children with additional needs, not too long after graduating from college with a National Diploma in Sport Science.

I consider myself a skilled soccer player, and previously played at a semi professional level in the UK. I’m also an experienced soccer coach, who previously coached for Chelsea FC in the community. I am very passionate about strength and conditioning training, and frequent my local gym.

Since moving to Sydney in 2018, I furthered my experience in health and fitness by obtaining my Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness. I have a commitment to making health and fitness fun and motivating for individuals, but I’m also aware that no two clients are the same, and I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients and other professionals to produce a highly individualised and evidence-based programme.

00I’m a certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Coach with experience in Sports Conditioning, One-on-One Personal Training, Small Group Fitness, HIIT, Water Aerobics, Teens and Kids Fitness, Mobility, Cardio and Strength Training, Outdoor/ Beach Fitness and Pre- and Post-Natal Fitness.

My athletic background is in Competitive Volleyball, Strength and Conditioning, Coaching and Recruiting. I’ve loved to play as many sports as I could get my hands on since I was a little girl, from basketball to swimming to dance to track and field — I love them all. I was a lifeguard and swim coach for ten years — and you still can’t keep me away from the water!

I’m a certified Nutritionist, Health and Wellness Coach as well as Sports Nutritionist. I absolutely love supporting clients towards healthy eating goals such as building and retaining lean muscle, reaching healthy body fat and fat loss goals, fuelling workouts pre- mid- and post- recovery, and promoting optimal cellular function. I’m also a big advocate of healthy body image and learning to love the skin you’re in.

I believe that health is wholistic — the mental, social, emotional, physical and spiritual must all be tended to and cultivated.

What gets me out of bed in the morning is investing my time into people’s lives in ways that matter. I consider it to be an enormous privilege to be a part of someone’s health and fitness journey. We are capable of SO much more than we think — it’s all about just showing up!
