Here's something most people don't realize – resilience is a habit, not a trait. So, let's delve deeper into the mindset, habits, and actions you can take to build your "bouncebackability" or resilience. Ready? Here are eight real-life habits to help you become more resilient:

  1. Practice mindfulness. Meditation and deep breathing are two examples. Start with one to two minutes and gradually increase to ten minutes once or twice a day. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect; when you sit down to breathe, it's all about your intention.
  2. Create "down" time. Some examples include making time for activities that help you relax, such as hobbies, reading, music, or gardening.
  3. Improve your fitness. Regular exercise reduces stress, improves mood, and boosts your self-esteem. Get on it!
  4. Eat a well-balanced, nutritious diet. Feed your body what it needs: whole, nutrient-dense foods while avoiding processed, sugary, and "junk" foods. This is a true game-changer.
  5. Sleep. When you're well-rested, you're better able to deal with everyday stress. Also, keep in mind that when you sleep, your body is flushing out the toxins that have accumulated in your brain during the day. It's no surprise that you feel refreshed after a good night's sleep!
  6. Build social connections. Connecting with others can make you feel less alone and more supported. This is a big one for a lot of people. Reach out to at least one person today for a check-in! You'll be surprised at how great it can make you feel.
  7. Use positive self-talk. This allows you to shift your focus away from the obstacles in your path and towards what is possible in your life. When you notice your inner voice becoming negative, redirect it into a positive action you can take.
  8. Make time for reflection. Reviewing your accomplishments and progress can help you appreciate how far you've come – and provide firsthand evidence of your strength and determination.

The best part about these habits is that they simply feel good – and when you combine them, you feel unstoppable.

I hope you can incorporate a few of these into your daily routine right away. You will not be sorry!
